Terry Ekasala (b. 1962, Weymouth, MA) is a Vermont based abstract artist. Terry set up her first studio in 1983 in an abandoned frame shop in the Clay Hotel and Youth Hostel on Espanola Way in Miama Beach, Florida. Throughout the eighties she was a member of the Artifacts Art Collective in Miami, staging events at the hot 80’s nightclub “Fire and Ice” and opening a gallery on the corner of Lincoln and Michigan. In 1987 Terry visited Paris for the second time and decided to stay. She worked as a cook in a Tea Salon, all the while painting in her tiny apartment. In 1990 she set up a studio in Belleville, Paris’ colorful 20th Arrondissement at La Forge, a diverse little artist community of varied nationalities. She painted here for the next eleven years. During her Paris years, she exhibited in personal and group shows in Berlin and New York City as well as local shows in France. In 2001 she moved her life and studio to the Northeast Kingdom in Vermont and after the birth of her son in 2004, she found a more permanent studio space in the woods of West Burke, Vermont. This is Terry’s first gallery show in Burlington.
